“Earlier this year, I took the lead in pushing for an open and competitive bidding process for the award of any expanded gaming licenses, including licenses for slot machines. That's the only fair way to ensure we take full advantage of the opportunity before us. Racetrack owners should not get any automatic license, preference, or inside advantage. I am pleased that Governor Patrick realizes the importance of competitive bidding in the context of expanded gaming, and I will strongly urge House-Senate conferees to include a competitive process for all licenses in the final gaming bill.”
