"America's Mayor" Rudy Giuliani to join Karyn Polito in Boston's North End on Sept. 9
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is planning a special trip to Boston's historic North End in support of Karyn Polito, Republican candidate for state treasurer.
Giuliani will headline a fundraising breakfast for Polito on Thursday, September 9. (For a copy of the invitation, please click here.) Following the event, Giuliani and Polito will tour Hanover Street to meet with local business owners and to greet neighborhood residents.
"I can't wait to visit the North End with Mayor Giuliani," said Polito. "I have tremendous respect for the mayor and for everything he has done in his career. In particular, I am looking forward to welcoming him to the North End on September 9 and to walking along Hanover Street with him. I greatly appreciate Mayor Giuliani's support for my campaign."
Polito is no stranger to the North End. She has made several campaign stops in the neighborhood since announcing her race for treasurer in March, and she has family ties to the North End dating back to her great grandparents. She is also very proud of her Italian heritage, which was recognized last year when she was named "Outstanding Italian" Grand Marshal of the Worcester Columbus Day Parade.
Recently, Polito joined former Governor Paul Cellucci on a visit to the North End for the Italian Religious Festival in honor of Santa Lucia and the Benvenuti Parade.
